Signing of Memorandum of Understanding between with “Beyond 5G Promotion Consortium” (B5GPC) and Northeastern University on Beyond5G/6G

Tokyo, Japan / Boston, MA, USA, November 15, 2022 – Beyond 5G Promotion Consortium and Northeastern University signs a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Beyond 5G / 6G as an International partner for promoting Beyond 5G / 6G.


The Institute of Wireless Internet of Things (WIOT) at Northeastern University and The Beyond 5G Promotion Consortium (B5PC) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to accelerate the global efforts toward the implementation of beyond 5G and 6G technologies. Northeastern University will be the first North American academic partner joining the International Committee. The MoU will foster the following areas of cooperation; Exchange of Information and Publications, Sharing 6G vision and Collaborative Research and Development Projects.

The MoU will also help build a strong partnership with other US and Japan organizations to develop standard compliant B5G features and define a shared 6G vision. Dr Makoto Gonokami and Prof Tommaso Melodia represented B5G Promotion Consortium and Northeastern University at the signing and pledged to work together to co-host webinars and launch joint research projects, based on this MoU. Moreover, both will continue to explore further collaboration opportunities with other countries and organizations.

About the B5G Promotion Consortium

Beyond 5G Promotion Consortium (B5GPC), established in Japan, aims to achieve the early and smooth introduction of upcoming telecommunication infrastructure and services beyond 5G and to strengthen the international competitiveness of joined members, in order to realize a strong and vibrant society expected in the 2030s.

B5GPC have promoted the appeal of Japanese Beyond 5G / 6G approaches, and its International Committee of the Beyond 5G Promotion Consortium (chaired by NAKAO Akihiro) has been actively working towards collaboration activities with countries and organizations outside of Japan.
