On June 8th, 2021, the Beyond 5G Promotion Consortium (President: GONOKAMI Makoto) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with 6G Flagship (The Rector of Oulu University: Jouko Niinimäki) on Beyond 5G/6G.
I. Background of MoU
Based on the “Global First” principle of the Beyond 5G Promotion Strategy of Japan, which was released in June 2020, the International Committee of the Beyond 5G Promotion Consortium (chaired by NAKAO Akihiro) has been actively working towards collaboration activities with both like-minded countries and relevant Beyond 5G related organizations situated outside of Japan.
The Beyond 5G Promotion Consortium and 6G Flagship, which is an ecosystem for research, development and innovation operated by the University of Oulu in Finland, have agreed to sign a Memorandum of Understanding on Beyond 5G/6G in order to further promote cooperation.
This Memorandum of Understanding is the first to be signed between the Consortium and an organization outside of Japan.

III. Further steps
The Consortium, in collaboration with 6G Flagship, will engage in various activities based on this MoU.
Moreover, the Consortium will continue to explore further collaboration opportunities with other organizations.
